We have four Red Hats in the shop today, and Tony and I are in here with David. We’re using Red Hats because, in the field, they bring a balance between their knowledge and experience. They’re at about a second-year level of knowledge and experience. By providing these guys with the opportunity to work on this, it’s going to give us a rough estimate of the time it will take for a field install.

Red Hats are brand new guys, fresh to the field, with no prior experience. They have the chance to come into the shop and learn from David, who conducts our training. Additionally, we now have a dedicated room where they can gain valuable knowledge. I had the chance to stand over there and talk to these guys about what they’re learning. The knowledge they’re acquiring is basic, yet crucial.

Over there, they are learning the fundamentals. Here in the shop, they can delve into the specifics that Barts Electric has been emphasizing. This includes running the MC through the walls, pulling MC, running pipes through the walls, and strapping them. They are gaining real-world experience in a real-world environment the moment they walk in through this door.

Our goal is to complete two rooms a day. We haven’t finalized the exact time on our prefab assembly line yet. By the end of this week, our objective is to minimize extra materials, almost eliminate waste, and reduce the time required. The aim is to have a new or second-year guy install everything in a room within half a day.

Barts Electric has been emphasizing task and time management for a month now. This situation exemplifies the importance of task and time. Tony and I have sat down, factored out everything in these rooms on paper, but the real-world scenario with the guys doing the work will provide valuable insights. Applying this experience to our team in Alabama will enable us to give them specific, measurable, and reportable task and time goals.
