My journey to Barts Electric started back in March of 2020. I parted ways with my longtime partner and brother-in-law, and it was emotional for me. I didn’t know where I was gonna go. I thought I had my career all mapped out, and I knew what I was going to do for the next 20 years. There I was at 47, trying to figure out how to pick up the pieces and where to start back up.

I met Thomas through church, and I knew that he needed help down on Eglin Air Force Base. I knew that he was a good person and a stand-up guy, so I started working with him, even though I don’t have any electrical experience. What I’ve learned since being here is that the Barts Electric culture is genuine, and Bart does care about people. It comes from an inward place, not outward looking for profits, but inward looking to build people. As he builds people, the customers are happy, and the quality of the job is good because the people care. Bart cares about the people, so with that product, the whole company rises together, and everybody does better.

There are opportunities if you’re willing to work and put in extra time and hours; then, those opportunities will be recognized. It’s something that can’t be faked. With the culture and the message that Bart preaches, you can’t pretend to care about people because everyone can spot out a phony. I’ve really been blessed by coming to Barts Electric to work.
