Barts Electric, a national electrical construction contractor, has been at the forefront of assembling impressive teams to tackle challenging projects. In this video transcript, we delve into the intricacies of the electrical trade, exploring the comprehensive role played by electricians and shedding light on the unique challenges faced by Barts Electric in constructing facilities.

Building from the Ground Up

The journey begins with Barts Electric taking on projects starting from a greenfield, where they’ve successfully built entire facilities. What sets the electrical trade apart is its omnipresence – touching every aspect of a facility, from underground and under slab work to the installation of wall panels.

Simultaneous Operations

One noteworthy aspect of Barts Electric’s approach is their ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. For instance, they engaged in roughing in wall panels at a precast plant while storing them until the footings and slabs were ready for installation. This intricate coordination ensures efficiency throughout the construction process.

Crane Operations and Construction Realities

At one point, Barts Electric had five cranes on-site, underscoring the complexity of electrical construction. The scale and precision required for such projects are often underestimated. From underground work to the precast plant, each phase demands attention to detail and a commitment to finding solutions in the face of challenges.

Safety Challenges in Detention Facility Construction

Barts Electric has successfully navigated the unique challenges posed by constructing detention facilities. With the aim of detaining individuals while ensuring their safety, the team must also protect critical equipment within the facility. Security requirements in a detention facility are paramount, underscoring the extensive planning and execution required for successful project completion.

Constant Recruitment Opportunities

For those interested in joining the dynamic field of electrical construction, Barts Electric offers exciting opportunities. Whether you are an aspiring electrician or an experienced journeyman, the company is always looking for new talent to contribute to its projects. The diverse and challenging nature of their work provides a platform for continuous learning and growth.

Barts Electric’s commitment to excellence in electrical construction shines through in the diverse projects they undertake. From greenfield beginnings to intricate operations involving cranes and simultaneous tasks, the electrical trade offers a multifaceted and dynamic career path. If you are an electrician or aspire to become one, Barts Electric welcomes you to join their team of dedicated professionals shaping the future of electrical construction.

I’ve always been impressed with the teams that we’ve been able to assemble for all these projects. Failure is not an option, so we work until we find the solution and move forward, looking forward to the next project. We started with a green piece of ground and built this entire facility. One of the things that’s very unique about the electrical trade is that we touch everything. We touch every piece of the facility we’re involved in during the point of installing underground and under slab work.

Simultaneously, we were roughing in wall panels at the precast plant where they were stored until the footings and slabs were installed. Then the precast was erected. At one point, we had five cranes on-site. There’s a lot of things that people don’t realize that go into this kind of construction. When you’re trying to detain people, you’re trying to protect them from harming themselves and others. You’re also trying to protect every piece of critical equipment that’s in the facility. Yes, and that’s a huge challenge. Like you said, the security requirements alone in a detention facility are paramount to the success of the entire facility. It’s a very extensive part of the project, and that’s only one piece of our project here. We’re handling basically everything.
