Job Summary:

The Director of Safety is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and oversight of the company’s safety programs across all electrical operations. This strategic role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, promotes a culture of safety, and drives continuous improvement in workplace health and safety practices. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical safety, regulatory compliance, and team leadership.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a company-wide safety strategy aligned with operational goals.
  • Lead the safety department and collaborate with executive leadership to integrate safety into all business functions.
  • Serve as the company’s safety spokesperson in audits, inspections, and industry forums.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, DOT, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Oversee risk assessments, hazard analyses, and corrective action plans.
  • Maintain and update safety policies, procedures, and manuals.
  • Design and implement comprehensive safety training programs for all employees.
  • Ensure field staff are trained in electrical safety, PPE usage, lockout/tagout, and emergency response.
  • Promote ongoing education and certification for safety personnel.
  • Lead investigations of workplace incidents, injuries, and near-misses.
  • Analyze root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Report findings to senior leadership and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Conduct regular site audits and safety inspections across all job sites and facilities.
  • Monitor compliance and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and present safety performance metrics.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture through leadership, communication, and recognition programs.
  • Engage employees at all levels in safety initiatives and continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate safety committees and cross-functional collaboration.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of safety leadership experience, preferably in electrical or construction industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, and electrical safety standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CHST, or CSHM are highly desirable.
  • Ability to travel to job sites and company locations as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
