Position Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides strategic financial leadership for Bart’s Electric, a full‑service electrical and special systems contractor known for exceptional reliability and customer‑focused service. As a key member of the executive team, the CFO oversees all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, risk management, accounting, and long‑term financial planning. This role is responsible for ensuring the company’s financial health, supporting sustainable growth, and strengthening operational performance across a dynamic, fast‑paced construction environment. The ideal candidate is a forward‑thinking leader with strong analytical skills, deep construction industry insight, and the ability to guide financial strategy while upholding the company’s commitment to delivering more value than our customers expect.

High-level Duties/Responsibilities overview:

  • Responsible for forecasting the organization’s financial standing based on financial and operational data and reports provided by finance and accounting teams and advising the CEO and Executive Team on strategic directions.
  • Developing and implementing financial strategies to support the company’s growth and profitability, aligning with short and long-term business goals and objectives.
  • Leading financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes, translating business goals into financial projections and forecasts, and setting financial goals and targets using best practices benchmarks, methodologies, and techniques.
  • Conducting financial analysis and reporting to evaluate performance, identify trends, and provide insights to guide strategic decision-making.
  • Optimize resource allocation and identify cost-saving opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the CEO in developing financial plans
  • Work with company shareholder(s) and Executives, and Senior Leader Team as a key strategic business partner in developing, monitoring, governing, and evaluating the overall business strategy. Ensure all data, reports, and record accuracy.
  • Proactively anticipate financial and data needs, regularly discuss with key stakeholders’ specific data and reporting needs, and ensure timely delivery of requested information.
  • Financial planning and analysis functions, with a focus on bottom line financial operating performance, and enhancing shareholder value. Manage all financial forecasting, budgeting, planning and analysis.
  • Responsible for all treasury services and investment strategies.
  • Oversee all Financial accounting and reporting functions.
  • A heavy focus on company financial performance, creating, monitoring, and understanding key performance indicators.
  • Responsible for financial and predictive modeling; analyzing the impact of key decisions on financial outcomes, tax planning, working capital needs, capital expenditures, debt levels, and other key areas of the company.
  • Key strategic partner in company mergers, acquisitions, and joint venture strategies.
  • Define the financial strategy for the company and oversee the creation and successful realization of important company financial priorities, objectives, initiatives, and goals.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration required (JD, MBA, MAcc or equivalent strongly preferred).
  • 10 years’ experience of progressive senior management or executive level; Controller, VP of Finance, CFO, or COO or equivalent.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
  • Experience can be used to offset educational requirements.
  • Exceptional management and supervisory skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, managerial & cost accounting principles.
  • Proficient with accounting and construction software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
