At Barts Electric, success is measured by more than just projects completed — it’s about people, relationships, and growth. As a national electrical construction contractor, Barts Electric has built more than electrical systems across the country. It has built a true sense of family among its team members.

In a recent company video, one of Barts Electric’s dedicated team members shared his powerful journey through the company’s four-year apprenticeship program. He reflected not just on the technical skills he gained, but on the lasting bonds he built with his coworkers — men he now considers brothers.

“We’ve all built more than a friendship. We’ve kind of turned ourselves into family… I really appreciate the men that they are — the willingness, the initiative — every one of those qualities I’ve always strived to be.”

After years of hard work and commitment, he received his certificate — a symbol of not just personal achievement, but of dedication to the trade and to the Barts Electric team. But for him, this is only the beginning.

“It feels great that after four years of all that hard work, it’s finally paid off… I’m hoping that I could become an FOM at some point. I’ve made a lot of mentees along the way, and I’d like to see them end up in my shoes.”

His story speaks to the larger mission at Barts Electric — to develop great electricians and great leaders. Mentorship plays a major role in the company’s culture. From day one, new apprentices are encouraged to grow, take initiative, and aim for leadership positions. Those who succeed are not only proud of their own progress, but also committed to lifting up the next generation of tradespeople.

“When we say there’s a culture — where we’re a family here — we mean it. I don’t think there’s anybody here I couldn’t call at the dead of night and they wouldn’t answer.”

Say we’ve all built more than a friendship. We’ve kind of turned ourselves into family a little bit, and I think a lot of those guys I’d consider brothers to me. I really appreciate the men that they are—their willingness, their initiative. Every one of those qualities is something I’ve always wanted to strive to be.

You know, it feels great that after four years of all that hard work, it’s finally paid off. I’ve got a certificate to show that all my hard work was worth something. I’m hoping that I could become an FOM at some point.

I’ve made a lot of mentees along the way. I like to think of myself as a great mentor, and I’d like to see those mentees that I’ve raised end up in my shoes—in the same place that I’m in, running work and stuff like that. I want to push them to be doing things as early as Barts Electric gave us the goal to, whenever we started here.

When we say there’s a culture, you know, where we’re a family here—we mean it. I don’t think there’s anybody here I couldn’t call in the dead of night, you know, 1:00 in the morning, and they wouldn’t answer the phone for me.
